About the Artists

Locke Johnson began private piano lessons at the age of 6. He studied piano at Tutti Muzik Inc. in Ottawa for several years before starting lessons with Dr. Chunson Park in Kanata in fall 2023. Locke has excelled in his piano studies – he has been awarded “First Class Honours with Distinction” for multiple Royal Conservatory of Music piano exams. In spring 2024, Locke won the Mildred L. Creed Memorial Trophy, the Laurentian Music Club Trophy, the Leon Veira Memorial Invitational J.S. Bach Trophy and scholarship, and the Musical Arts Club scholarship at the Ottawa Kiwanis Festival. He was also recommended to compete in the June 2024 Piano Provincial Finals by the Ottawa Piano Festival. Away from the piano, Locke plays competitive soccer at the regional level with the Gloucester Hornets. Fun fact: Locke has perfect pitch!

Lucas Zhong is a vibrant young musician as a soloist, chamber musician and accompanist. He began his musical journey studying piano with Dr. Ruby Jin at age 8 and later took up violin with Ioan Harea. His accomplishments include Gold price at the 2024 Ottawa Piano Festival, multiple first-place awards at the Kiwanis Music Festival, the prestigious Irene Woodburn Wright Memorial Trophy & Mozart Scholarship, and first class honors with distinction in all piano and theory exams. A devoted member of the Capital String & Voice Collective under Dr. Joan Harrison, Lucas has performed at prominent concerts and events. His profound passion for music continues to inspire with each performance.

Yinuo Shi – Yinuo started learning piano at age of three, and is now in grade eleven. She likes listening to musicals and pop music, even though classical music has taken up so much of her spare time. Her favorite composer is Bach, because she finds the logic of his music fascinating and really wants to bring out the fun in them. Today she will play the third Partita by Bach.
